You'd hope so, Bryan. But, as an example - when someone contacts us on one of our sites, the page doesn't refresh, as it sends an AJAX request. So, they wouldn't be able to send spiders to view if it's there or not, without attempting to get in touch on a daily basis.

I reall doubt that a lot of people will mess with Google by defrauding their publishers. It's just not a good idea to do that with someone who is awash in cash.

But in any case, the important thing is the quality of the advertisers. Smart publishers will ignore the riff-raff offers where all the risk lies, and will look for deep pocketed brand name players who are using this model.

There will be some gold for the publisher who knows how to work the affiliate model. With a quality advertiser, you should make money, because you are taking more of the risk. And the quality advertiser will be glad to pay you more money in this model, because the model screens out the fraudulent publishers.

I have been involved in publishing sites that used primarily CPA advertising for the past 4 years, and it has worked very well for us.

In the Google Website Optimizer beta tests they make sure you validate all your tags. Could you imagine Google validating them then running a spider to make sure the tags stay there? Hmmmmm.

It's called fraud. I'm sure some will try it. I'm curious what Google is doing to prevent it.

I'm more interested in how Google will be able to prove that the action has taken place. What's to stop anyone removing the code that tells Google an action has taken place, to save themselves money?
