Communication Style: How Does Your Boss Rate?

By Holly Buchanan

If your boss is male, is he an Alpha Male?

I recently ran across an article at called “Examining the Alpha Male at Work.” The article talks about the four communication styles of most CEO’s. Check it out to see what category your boss falls into and how to deal with that communication style.

What I found most interesting is they claim that, with more women in the workforce, typical Alpha Male leadership styles aren’t cutting it anymore.

I just finished listening to Crucial Conversations and they are saying the same thing. They studied leaders and found the best ones have several things in common. Seems the “it’s my way or the highway” may not be as effective as it used to be. You still need confidence, but mix in a little humility and it’s amazing how quickly you can rally those around you to your cause.

What’s your boss’s communication style?

  1. I was wondereing whats the diff between a male and Female Boss??????????

Do women to reach that CEO level still have to play ball with the boys!!!!! As in go and have drinks, play squash, with JJ. etc…
IN OTHERWORDS HAVE WOMEN BROKEN THE GLASS CEILING;;;;;I worked at 2 companies were I was under women bosses Firstly their was a boss who totally devoted herself to her job… She went to 3rd level manager which was not done to much in those days Im talking the nineties….. Usually woman are put down because they cant handle the CEO thing and children. Well this boss chose not to have children….. But if she did I think she could have done both very smoothly…..
The second place I worked at where a woman broke the glass ceiling was in the health care industry. This boss did have children and did manage both very smoothly….the career and the kids.

  2. I agree with idea. And hope that it will be useful in the days ahead.

  3. I look for useful in this article.
