Will Google Buy Technorati?

According to a recent Forbes.com article Technorati seems to be having some serious troubles [1]. We have had our issues with Technorati with them assuming our 7 free resources for Google Website Optimizer [2] as being its own site–not just an extension of GrokDotCom [3].

The nature of blog search has changed over the past year, and even Technorati’s redesign [4] found them acknowledging some of these changes:

Whereas folks using Technorati a couple of years ago were predominantly coming to us to search the blogosphere to surface the conversations that were most interesting to them, today they are increasingly coming to our site to get the 360 degree context of the Live Web – blogs of course, but also user-generated video, photos, podcasts, music, games and more. They want all the good stuff out there, all in real-time, and we’re using the power of 80 million bloggers to help organize it and make it fun to browse; using the wisdom of crowds as a mirror on ourselves.

In other words, instead of blog search, they decided to get into the universal search game, which has different rules altogether [5]. What happens when Google moves blog search to the homepage [6]?

Would Google acquire [7] Technorati to take advantage of keyword-driven [8] social networks [9]?
