wordpress smileSome people say web analytics is hard [1]. Others try to keep web analytics simple [2]. But at least one company is trying to reduce web analytics rage [3] with a smile on its face.

Most web analytics use an invisible gif [4] to track Web traffic, but WordPress uses a small smiley face gif on their pages (scroll to the bottom-left of WordPress.com [5]). Some bloggers are surprised to see a smiley face in their blog themes, but it’s actually part of the WordPress stats plugin [6].

Other than the smiley face, what images have you seen being used for data collection?
