Gifts For Web Geeks

By Bryan Eisenberg
December 19th, 2008

There are only a few more shopping days left. If you have a web geek in your life and are still wondering what to get them, I’ve compiled a wish list by asking my fellow web geeks at FutureNow what they want:

The list of favorite things we would want as gifts:

1. iPod Touch

2. A day of Helli skiing or Cat skiing.

3. Old-school snowsuit so you can feel like you’re a kid again.

4. New snowboarding boots- Women’s size 7 please (not for me, of course).

5. Educational toys like a Marshmallow Shooter.

6. Nikon D90 – shoot pictures and video on a DSLR – Cool! (I received a D60 for father’s day, just before this came out, but happy to upgrade).

7. Ed Hardy t-shirts- X-Small (again, not for me – XXL shirts for Jeffrey, who wears Tall, and me)

8. A Bacon scarf – for the geek who loves food (is this kosher?)

9. An Audible.com gift certificate.

10. iMuffs MB220 Wireless Headphones

11. A vacation anywhere – so we can disconnect for a while (keep the wi-fi far away).

12. Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator

13. A. G. Russell Italian Wine Steward’s Tool

14. Fly Stick Van de Graaff Levitation Wand

15. MX-1 World’s Smallest R/C Copter

16. A Cardscan (now for the Mac) – for all those business cards we collect.

17. Rock Band 2 for Xbox 360 or Wii

18. A MacBook Pro – Once you go Mac, you never go back.

19. TiVo TCD658000 HD XL DVR

20. Pure Digital Flip Video MinoHD Camcorder

If you are feeling generous, feel free to send us something. Our address is here. ;-)

If you are a web geek, then let us know what are you wishing for. Feel free to leave it in the comments below.

I hope you get everything you wish for and more.

  1. I wish you could get bacon scarfs in the UK!

  2. It’s just good to read one of these lists and know that I have a 90% ditto feeling on it.

    Just great! :)

  3. Marshmallow shooters rock. My son loves those RC copters, for a day.

I’m getting Shaun White Snowboarding for the Wii!!!! You can use it with the Wii Fit board.

  4. I LOVE that snowboard boots show up on a list of web geeks’ gifts – woot woot!

p.s. I gotta check out that Shaun White snowboarding game. The kid’s untouchable – check out how his game’s numbers in first week sell-through compare to other boarding based games…

  5. How can be HELLI SKIING in 2nd place… Must be the 1st choice! :)

    Happy holidays

  6. I’d love to get a couple of these in my stocking. Custom WordPress themes and domain name gift certificates make good choices, too.

  7. [...] several of us received an iPod Touch this holiday season. That is the item that topped our list of gifts for web geeks. I even got these cool Etre Touchy gloves that will keep my hands warm this winter, but let my [...]

  8. I’m not sure how I feel at the moment, I have just come to the realisation that I am a geek, and apparently it has surprised no-one else! oh well, I will stand up and be proud whilst getting familiar with my iPod Touch.

  9. What is with the following of Ed Hardy. I’ve seen so many of their shirts, and they frankly are just messy. Maybe they are for geek “kids”? Or heck, maybe their marketing department just knows whats up.

  10. You forgot the obligatory top shelf mags, geeks after all :-)

  11. Helli Skiing should definitely be no.1 then ipod number 2. infact Helli skiing with an ipod should be number 1 ! :-)

  12. Even if a few years have passed since that article was posted, I still wouldn’t frown upon a MacBook or a Tivo as a present! :)
