Social media sites are an important part of today's society, that cannot be denied, however, like almost anything in life, it is moderation and balance that is the key. Too much time spent on anything is not healthy. Long lost friends and family can, again, become acquainted with the goings on in each others lives. Businesses can reach those who are interested in their products or services, etc. Much like the challenges and changes facing print media as a result of the internet, the means by which we communicate are changing from snail mail and greeting cards, to social media. In answer to the question, if social media sites all went down at the same time, we would all take that time and spend it somewhere else, most likely getting chores or work done. Many others, might simply take that time to pick up the phone and call a friend or... go back to some gaming.

I actually don't engage in social networks. The last one I was a part of was myspace and that was only to message my friend in TX. My girlfriend on the other hand would get a lot more done during the day.

I would probably cry for a few minutes, and then go to Starbucks to get a coffee, come back and hope they worked. If not, I might actually get some work done! haha

Wa~
I can't imagine what would happen if social networks fail.
Once it happens,we gotta face it.

Some people can't live without Twitter. No website is without vulnerability, but we learn to adapt!

You can find some good articles at my <a href="http://www.articlegallery.net" rel="nofollow">article directory</a>.
You can also post a <a href="http://www.freeadvertisinggallery.com" rel="nofollow">free ad</a> on my advertising blog! Enjoy your day!

Some networks will disappear or morph into entertainment or game sites. Social Networking will be an interesting feature that will be integrated into certain services. Amazon might offer a tool to show you what books your connections are buying or iTunes will show you what your friends are listening too.

5 years ago all we had was MySpace and it was just getting started. Now many of us really don't what we would do if we didn't have Twitter and Facebook. What will be around 5 years from now?

I'd probably start reading my rss feeds again! Social networks like twitter keep me current on news that interests me...with little effort. Don't know if I could go back...

I never believed in Social Networks. Many may not believe this. Many people say that they are very powerful marketing tool.May be they are right. But there are other ways too. They can help you get build relationship with your potential customers. But if you have good product or services then you do not need too much of convincing to do.

I'd be so relieved. Sometimes I feel like the twitter/facebook/linkedin monster is just a ball and chain that I must bow to every morning as I post my requisite daily tweets and status updates.

But I admit, after a few days I'd probably start to tremble with DT-like symptoms :-O.

I was also far more productive this AM when Twitter went down. It was refreshing, actually -- like a few-hours camping trip away from it all. :)
