  7. Sometimes, it just drives you nuts as to which optimization strategy work. You just tend to give up. There are so many monsters out there writing crap about little things that they know and they pretend to be expert. When you follow, it’s all crap.

  8. I just can’t keep up with google anymore, my moving website used to rank so well and gone down the drain,

  9. you may add “Analytics Exchange”

  10. WOW, great collection of resources.

  11. I found this site very useful in starting to learn about web optimization. –

Helped me to understand a fundamental rule – make your page and its assets smaller in size, and use fewer assets by combining them wherever you can.

  12. A great list, thanks for sharing this. It could prove very useful as a beginners resource (apart from perhaps the fact that I’d say Market Motive, at $299 a month, is probably on the pricey side for a beginner).

  13. This list seems to be a good place to for a beginner like myself.

  14. Great list, I have recently started using Google’s website optimizer myself on the recommendation from Bryan Eisenberg’s Always Be Testing.

  15. Thanks for this list! These look like great resources. I hadn’t known of some of them.

  16. Very good stuff, especially the white papers. And website optimizer resources are also very useful.

  17. No doubt bringing traffic to our website is not an easy task but converting visitors into customers is much more difficult than bringing traffic. Conversion rate guide will help me a lot to became true web strategic.

  18. Wow! What an extensive list. I shall be checking out Google Adwords Certification Program and the Google Website Optimizer. They’re just what I needed. Thanks

  28. Hi Mariel,
This blog post is greatly appreciated! I have been looking for a “one stop shop” of affiliate resources, and this is definitely the ticket!
    Thanks again,

  29. I’m thrilled that your site was recommended to me and coming across this very first post reading just made me revised my X-mas wish list. I’m sure my wife will appreciate my wish-redirection just few days before “the day”. I’m in full time employment but spending wee hours into the mornings working on a hoby – my website which was just lauched 1+ month ago. I have done a lot of reading up viz. affiliate marketing, SEO, Serp’s, and building traffic. Seen endless youtube’s and even made the mistake of buying into C… services. Therefore, I’m very grateful for seeing this recommendation and I sure know what I’ll be doing over the holidays – all depending on whether wishes come through!

    Thanks again.

  30. Hi Mariel,
I am still confused which one the best, blogspot or wordpress? Can you help me decide?. tq

  31. Wow… this is good for a newbie like me who learns to be an SEO expert..

  32. It definitely depends on the purpose of the site. You can build your own WordPress ecommerce site with very little trouble. I have less experience with Blogspot. Why not start by doing some research on starting a WordPress site?

  33. This is a fantastic list. Visited and will share soon. Just to add a tidbit on SEO, the Art of SEO has really broken down the walls of SEO for me. Comes from the best in the SEO field.

  34. Nice compilation. Let me know if you wish to add it to businessvibes

  35. Wow. I thought I was quite aware of most legitimate online training, but this is a huge list. Could you recommend what you consider the top SE0 training out of this list? That is my main focus and want to spend my money wisely. Any help would be appreciated

  36. I think SEO has emerged a one of the most potent and effective marketing techniques for businessmen and entrepreneurs.

  37. Awesome list. I often visit Occams Razor daily I’ll check out the rest tonight. Thanks again.

  38. You can always learn something new when it comes to SEO. What I like about the list is that it is manageable, not too much on there which can be a bit overwhelming.

  39. Good list, thanks. The site recommended by Brid is cool too.

  40. at last i found great collection i’m a new beginner and need help all the time thanks so much

  53. Shawn,

Thanks for taking the time to read all the articles! i hope you found some helpful information that you can put to good use.

  54. Its true – that is a great list but like some of the other comments, the prices of some of these is quite pricey and well out of the league of most of us. What are the best free (but actually effective) and or the cheapest versions of this software and the like that will help those that are struggling?

  55. Web Analytics Guru is the book that influenced me the most. I think they should teach it in elemntary school.

  56. What a useful post, thanks Mariel. I will definitely read the previous 11 parts of the series.

  57. @ Cam Abel

All of these resources are free or cheap except for Conversion Conference and Market Motive. The books might cost up to $35, but you can also sell them back on Amazon once you are done, I bet you won’t though, as you will want to reference them in the future. Good Luck!!!

  62. This is a great little summary of awesome places to get info! I love these kind of lists. Keep this type of content coming!

  63. Wow! Amazing resource, thank you for putting this together. Such a time saver for those of us trying to grow and optimise our small businesses.

  64. Awesome list. There are also many videos on google’s youtube channel where actual Google employees discuss SEO and what google looks for. I would highly recommend searching for those.
