Today I’d like to give you 2 exercises that will help your visitors get a better sense of why they should be doing business with you.
1. TweetVP – In 140 characters or less, tell me the value of doing business with you. What makes you different than your competitor? This is like writing your Unique Value Proposition or Unique Campaign Proposition, but you are limited to the number of characters, as if you were going to post it on Twitter. If you do a good job of this you could lower your bounce rates by putting this on every landing page.
2. 25 Interesting things about you – You may have seen this pass along on Facebook as people started to list the 25 interesting things about themselves. Do the same thing for your business and have several people involved in your business do the same. Then find the most interesting ones and use them on your About Us page. This will enhance your credibility by adding transparency into your company.
Good Luck! Feel free to share your results with us.

Great little exercises, Bryan– excellent translation of important principles for the TWacebook age.
What other exercises, principles can you think of that suggest themselves or evolved directly from social media metaphors? There’s a great framework there for making what’s “old” “NEW” again.

I heard this before, 140 characters (or was it 160, whichever is the length of SMS) is the typical attention span of an adult before they lose interest in an idea. I like the idea of defining why to use your company in 140 or less, great exercise!

Twitter can be a great marketing strategy that extends your value proposition. Often times, many Twitter users find it difficult to deliver outstanding value in 140 characters or less. I’d suggest doing your homework and thinking twice about the value of each word. Great excercise!

The TweetVP advice is really good. I will keep that in mind once I launch my new website. You really have to know what your potential web visitors are thinking of and looking for. You should also let them know that it is your site that they should be thinking of and looking for.
